Select the Print Template tab to create new print templates or to modify existing templates to use for printing an order set or plan of care. The templates define the layout and appearance of an order set or plan of care that is printed on paper or saved in electronic form (PDF).
The print templates in AuthorSpace make it easy to define the layout and look-and-feel of your paper-based order sets or plan of care. The print template functionality was designed so that a customized template could be created once and then reused as often as needed, saving time and providing consistent formatting across order sets or plans of care.

Administrators can view and navigate all screens in the Environment Manager. The screens that non-administrator users are able to view and navigate depend on assigned permissions. |
You can create a new print template, edit or copy an existing template, or delete a template on the Print Template tab.
The print template functionality enables you to customize the appearance of your order set or plan of care in the following ways:
Apply the print template to the order set or plan of care at the time you print the content. (See Printing Order Sets or Printing Plans of Care.) After you apply the template, you can further tweak the layout in an editable window (HTML Editor). Once you are satisfied with the appearance of the content, you can save the order set or plan of care as a PDF file for use by a clinician. Depending on the print template applied, the PDF may be interactive. This means that clinicians can complete the order set or plan of care online by checking items, selecting items from drop-down lists, or typing additional information or orders into text boxes at the point of care prior to printing the content. For order sets only, clinicians may have the option to print only selected items rather than the entire order set. Or the clinician can print the order set or plan of care at the point of care and manually fill out the content.
If you apply a print template to an order set or plan of care, you should create a mapping between standard Zynx workspace-defined fields (WDFs) and custom WDFs so that those fields will appear correctly when the print template is applied.
When you set up a print template for an order set, you can choose to compress medication order items by dose, frequency, or duration. If a medication order item includes a custom WDF that is not correctly mapped to a Zynx WDF, any medication compression rules applied via a print template will not work because Zynx systems will not inherently know how to map between Zynx WDFs and custom WDFs. Therefore, the Map to Zynx WDF feature allows the user to create a mapping between standard Zynx WDFs and custom WDFs so that those fields will appear correctly when the print template is applied. Currently, compression will only work if there is a 1:1 mapping relationship between a custom WDF and a Zynx WDF. See Modifying a WDF for information on using the Map to Zynx WDF functionality.

The medication compression settings are designed for use with Zynx default workspaces and may not function properly when using configurable workspaces. |
